Searching for products

There are two ways to search to find the product you are looking for on the 123Library website. Both have been designed to be easy-to-use and to produce quick, accurate results.

1. Quick search is located at the top of every page of the website.

To start, choose the type of product you would like to search for in the first dropdown menu. Next, type in one or more keywords you would like to search for. Select whether you'd like to search within the full 123Library catalogue or just within your own 123Library subscription products (those listed in 'My library').

Quick search

Finally, click 'Go' and your search results will be returned on the page below.

If you selected to search within 'all products' the search results will be split into the three product types of eBooks, eVideos and eJournals. If you selected an individual product type only titles within this product type will be returned.

Quick search results

The list of products returned will display an image, author name(s), publisher name, ISBN, list price, date of publication and percentage number to indicate how closely this product title matches your search query.

If you wish to view more details about a specific product click the title to be taken to a summary of its content.

Additional information on the 'more details' page will include a full description, table of contents and the ability to search within the product itself if an eBook or eJournal issue. Search results will be returned on the page and will highlight the exact reference and page number.

You will have the option to buy the product title and by clicking the 'Make selected changes to your order' button at the bottom of the page add them to your current order (for more information see How to purchase products and subscriptions).

2. Advanced search can be used for more detailed search queries.

Click on the 'Advanced search' link in the search box at the top of the website. Select whether you'd like to search within the full 123Library catalogue or just within your own 123Library subscription products (those listed in 'My Library'). Choose the type of product you would like to search for in the dropdown menu. Next, type in the keywords you would like to search for. Select whether you'd like to match 'any' of the keywords, 'all' of the keywords or a keyword 'phrase'. Choose the publisher of the product from the dropdown menu and enter the author's name if known. Type in the ISBN number of the product or library code. Then select a date range you would like to apply to the search.
